The study of science is divided into three branches: life, physical and nature.
Life Science
Life science is what you also call biology. It is the study of organic life including ourselves, animals, plants and cells. Every life has a cycle and everything works differently to continue twisting the gears of life to the end. Life science is divided into several categories. The same also applies to physical and nature sciences, which will be covered later.
Botany is the study of our plants, their growth and what hinders them from growing further. Botany primary deals in several plant-related subjects including growth development, plant genetics, reproduction, and taxonomy. If you are a plant lover, this field fits you like a glove.
Zoology is the study of animals, particularly how they develop and go on with their lives in terms of survival, sociability and so on. Like plants, you will specifically observe their life cycle, growth, reproduction and how they meet their end.
What about marine animals? There is one category dedicated to the ocean kingdom. Marine biologists do the job through different specialities such as marine microbiology and fishery biology.
Moving to the medicinal and nutritional fields of life science, you are a nutritionist when you are studying human diets and how they affect our bodies. To study medicines and how they can treat certain diseases, you’d be a pharmacist. In pharmacy, you are responsible for testing substances to determine their safety for medicinal use.
Meanwhile, virology emphasizes viruses themselves, their outbreaks and preventions. For analyzing crime scenes and evidence in laboratories, forensics comes into play.
Physical Science
In physical science, the laws of the world itself are emphasized when investigating how it works around us. Chemistry, physics and astronomy fit in this branch.
Chemistry is about studying properties, reactions and compositions of matter including chemicals and elements like salt and metals. Chemists experiment with these different materials for a variety of purposes.
In physics, the focus is on the impact of matter when affected by energy and motion. As a physicist, you would create and test theories regarding how the world works. If you are looking deeper into the universe at an atomic scale, you are a quantum physicist that also discovers new theories that never existed before.
Astronomy is about the study of space including moons, stars and planets. Chemistry and physics are applied here to explore in space and understand their properties better. Satellite photography is often used to capture images or videos of space.
Nature Science
Nature or earth science revolves around our own planet, its structures, developments, atmosphere and materials. This allows understanding of the earth and measures to protect it from further harm or degradation.
Studying weather is the job of a meteorologist. They analyze and predict weather forecasts and broadcast them online or on other media such as television and newspapers.
Geology is also another example of nature science, where rocks and other solid materials of the earth are studied. Geologists also study earth-related disasters such as earthquakes and landslides. Speaking of rocks, if you are studying fossils, you are a paleontologist. You study the earth’s natural history and how does life become the way it is today.
